Illness & Health Policy
At Tender Loving Daycare, the health and safety of every child is our top priority. To help protect all children and staff from the spread of illness, we ask that families follow the guidelines below.
When to Keep Your Child Home
Please keep your child home if they show any of the following:

Fever over 38°C (100.4°F)

Vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours

Persistent cough or trouble breathing

Rash with fever or other symptoms

Pink eye with discharge

Any contagious illness (e.g., chickenpox, COVID-19, strep throat)
Children must be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to care.
What Happens If Your Child Becomes Ill at Daycare
If your child shows signs of illness while in our care, you will be contacted and asked to pick them up as soon as possible. In some cases, a doctor’s note may be required before they can return.
Return to Care
Children may return when:

They are fever-free for 24 hours without medication
-
Free from vomitting & diarreha for 48 hrs from last symptom.

They are eating, drinking, and participating normally in daycare activities
-
They have received appropriate treatment (if required) and no longer pose a risk to others
In some situations, public health guidelines may require extended exclusion or testing.
Communication
We will notify families of any known illness outbreaks in the centre. If your child is diagnosed with a contagious condition, please notify us promptly so we can take appropriate steps to protect other children.
